Attitude Adjustment

Do you ever look at blogs sometimes and think that everyones' life is better than yours? :) After looking at blogs and such tonight I've been wanting things. That's right, THINGS! I'm seeing people's houses, new clothes, cute pics....a bunch of STUFF! I looked around my house, in my closet, at myself and am feeling a little -blah.  It's not that I'm unhappy, but I could sure use an attitude adjustment and some working on. Then the thought rang out true to me that stuff and things are not what will make me happy. (perfect timing for Christmas) I ALONE need to make myself happy. After watching a fireside tonight that Gordon B. Hinckley gave, he mentioned that if we are unhappy, we need to stop thinking about ourselves and think about other people. That hit home. I definitely need to stop thinking about myself. I think I'll try these 2 new ideas/reminders and hope for the best. :) Wish me luck!

What a great post Linds!
And I just have to say, I KNOW FOR A FACT that everyone only posts things on their blogs about the good stuff, never the bad! It always makes their lives seem perfect, right? But why would you want to post the negative stuff on your blog anyway?
I will definitely take your advice and think of others and not myself. Thanks for the reminder!

I have the same problem. Only when I look at other people's blogs I find myself coveting emotional things, if that makes any sense. And then I have to remind myself that what I'm lacking in the emotional world is something that only I can fix (or just open my eyes to realize I already have it).

Thanks for posting this. I know what you mean and find myself in the same rut sometimes. It's so easy to wish for more. I always have to stop myself and remember what I already have is more than enough! This time of year is hard too because I justify my 'wants' with "Oh that will be my Christmas present." HA! I need to follow Pres. Hinckley's advice too and stop thinking about what I want or need and think more about what I can do to help others in need. Thanks again for the reminder.

I totally agree with you Linds! I catch myself doing the exact same thing so many times and just have to keep reminding myself about my priorities. Thanks for sharing! And thanks for the thoughts from Pres. Hinckley! I'm gonna try that too!

I feel ya Linds........I think it's perfectly normal to feel like this every once in a while. Something we ALL need to work on!

Hi Lindsey!

Everyone wants to look perfect. I find myself in the same boat as Molly: wanting to be a better mom, take time to actually enjoy life, be a better wife, actually cook dinner once in a while, etc. etc. You have a lot to be envious of, two things being your darling daughter and your plans for December 7th...

Good luck!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that. Sometimes it's hard to remember what blessings we have and not only look what other people have. I find myself in need of constant improvement, thanks for your reminder, you always have great ones.

i was reading your last couple of posts, but I am going to comment on this one......I find myself doing stuff like this all the time, especially when it comes to clothes because I really like to shop. It's a good reality check to not let yourself get caught up in all the hoopla(I made up that word) and I think you do a great job at it.
On another note, I love that Sarah head butts Ed hahaha that is freakin halarious. Cohen has recently tried hitting me in the face when he gets mad and it takes every effort of strength that I have not to bust up laughing.
Also is looks like you had a great Thanksgiving, you are so good at making friends where ever you go. I think that's why I will always will be in Utah I am to shy to meet new people and I would become a crazy house lady if I moved to a place where I didn't know anyone

Oh and PS my sister and I laugh about the blog world all the time, sometimes it seems more of a brag fest, and housewife competition. I guess it makes sense I mean most people probably want to post the good things about their lives, they don't want people to know that maybe they got in an argument with their husband or that sometimes they want to drop kick their kid across the room hahahaha

I'm kidding I never get in arguments with my husband and my child is perfect and never angers me.....................
ok I'm done now

I know this is going to seem creepy coming from an anonymus poster but I promise I am not creepy. i actually know alot of the same people you do.

Anyway just wanted to comment and let you know alot of bloggers, myself for sure, look at your blog and feel the same way. But I look at your blog and not want material things like clothes, house or whatever. I look at your blog and wish me and my hubby could get along like you and your hubby, I wish I had a precious little one, I wish I got married in the temple, I wish I had good friends to hang out with and stuff like that.

You are right material stuff won't make you happy. But the things I mentioned above will and you have all of them. You truly are a lucky girl.
