True Love

It's really sad for me to say that tonight for the first time in A LONG time I held Sarah while she drifted away to sleep. Usually I'm so quick to feed her and put her in her crib to fall asleep so I can get on to the next thing. Tonight I just enjoyed her. Her smell and her sweet cuddles. The only time she's cuddly is at night and I haven't taken advantage. I reclined her rocker and let her lay her head down on my shoulder while she babbled a little, but mostly relaxed right into me. I totally enjoyed our quiet time just being together. It was one of the best feelings in the world! Ed said he does that with her a lot. I've realized I'm too rushed and worried about what to do next all the time, what I need to clean, what I want to do. I need to enjoy my Sarah more. She is the sweetest creation. For those of you who don't yet have kids, but want them...you're in for the best treat of your lives. It's amazing how much love one little baby can bring to your life.  I can't wait to have more! It's truly fulfilling! I love my little family!

What I've learned while reading other blogs lately:
-Let Sarah just be, explore and make more messes- I'm way too uptight
-Slow down and enjoy my baby- Time passes way too quickly

Cute post! I love it and totally agree! It's so easy to get caught up in things. Last night I held Hudson like a baby and told him I would feed him like a baby, giving him a bottle. When I slowed down to hold him like that and look at him it brought back sooo much and made me miss those feedings that you were forced to sit and hold them.

You probably know already, but that is what I did with Jace until he was over a year old, and even still sometimes. I have continued the tradition with Nixon and love it still. Its a time during the day when you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy your baby. Jace hasn't had any lasting affects from it, and will go to bed on his own every night. Lets hope Nixon is the same!

What a great post! I go in before I go to bed and pick Ky up, sit in the recliner and just cuddle. It's the best. I just love the way he smells too! I have really made the effort to live in the moment, just enjoy and relish him for this time because I know it'll be gone in the blink of an eye.

I love that saying about the hand prints on the fridge being bothersome and then one day they just disappear. And you realize how much you miss them. I just botched that, but you get the idea!! Every time I see his hand prints on the fridge I smile.

Ahhh that is so sweet. When I hear stories like that, I can’t wait to have kids of my own! Plus I don’t think strangers like me smelling their baby’s heads anymore. Okay, that sounded really creepy – I don’t do that…any more - hehehe just kidding again.

I agree too! Already (2 weeks only) I so enjoy just looking at my baby and I can't believe how much I love him! I can't believe how quickly your life changes.

Thank you for your card, you are so thoughtful!

Ditto! The best times are when you are in the moment. They can sense it and I always get a big hug and kiss for slowing down! Sarah is precious!

It is so very true! With the twins I find myself in that situation all too often. So much to do with too little time. But nothing beats that one on one time just doing some cuddling! Cleaning your home and doing all that stuff is way over rated anyway! I would love to see you over Christmas! We need to do a Big Christmas party!

Great post Lindsey, I find myself in the same boat, I rush around instead of enjoying the moments at hand. I need to be better and slow down. Thanks for the reminder.
I love when my kids will just cuddle it's the best.

Linds, you are so cute. I cannot wait to have those little priceless moments with my baby Cale too. I had a friend tell me "I can't wait to have a baby so I can dress it up all cute" and I just thought-ok that is SO not why you have kids. It's just like one day you grow up and you realize you want your life to be more, and I can't wait to have it be about him. Im so excited. You guys are so cute I love it. We need to make sure we get together at Christmas time, I miss you!!!

Oh So Cute! So fun to cuddle your babes! Grace is a busy body and barely sits still long enough to even eat but maybe some day she will cuddle! HAHA. She won't even rest her head on my shoulder longer than 2 seconds... wait, I think 5 seconds is her record time. Haha!
