OCD

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and behind due to the fact that I think I'm a little OCD when it comes to cleaning. It's starting to be a problem especially with a newborn. I almost can't function if everything isn't in it's place. Sure my house gets messy, but before I feel like I can move on to doing anything else-scrapbooking, blogging, reading, sometimes caring for my kids, etc- I have to have everything picked up or I get grumpy. Just ask Ed. He's baffled at what is upsetting me most times. Really? A clean house is that crucial to my happiness? TV, email and food are the only other things that stay at the top of the list. It was great when the season ended to all the spring tv shows. I was much more productive. Isn't that sad. My priorities... Anyone else this way?

I am completely NOT that way. I wish I had more desire to have a perfectly put together house, but I just don't. Sometimes I go on cleaning sprees--but only until I get tired of it. So for the most part our room is a mess. Would I be happier if it were perfectly clean? Of course. But it certainly doesn't ruin my day. I guess that's a good thing.

Personally, I can't really relax if the house is a mess. Also, sometimes I have to stop everything and paint my toenails. It makes me feel better. Strange, I know.

Congratulations on your beautiful new addition! He is beautiful!
And I wish I had your OCD. I'm too lazy to organize or clean ANYTHING!

I wish I would have been able to see you when you were here!

I have the same problem and it seems to get worse when I am stressed. I got so grumpy and couldn't figure out why. I ended up having a breakdown. I can't get past it (having to have my house clean/laundry done/etc.) but I have learned to ask for help from Michael. Before I just blamed him because he wouldn't understand how I needed things clean.

Sorry not much help, but at least you know someone else understands what you are going through :)

No you are not alone! I get anxious when the house is messy. I hate it! We should start a support group or something ;)

yes I am exactly this way, it's a sickness really. there are times I get up and start cleaning and realize it's 4 in the afternoon and I haven't even eaten anything...oh..that's why I am shaking., Ha ha ha...I love a clean house just as much as you!

You already know I'm like this considering we talk about it all of the time! It's the reason that I clean by myself AND I hire someone to do it twice a month. I still vacuum, scrub my shower, etc. in between visits. But, I personally don't think I clean because I like cleaning, I think I have an inflated sense of what "clean" really means. I am suuuuper grossed out by dirt. Mess is one thing, I can handle mess if it's a clean one (temporarily) but I just think living in filth should be against the law! :)

I get frustrated with a messy house all the time. I have found that if I just force myself to go about my day and enjoy what I am doing and then clean up once right before Seth gets home I am a lot less stressed. Sometimes I find myself cleaning the house 5 times in 1 day and I have to make conscious efforts to only do it once and enjoy the rest of the day. That has helped me out a lot. You should try it, especially now that you have 2 kids.

Yay I found your blog! Your family is so cute! I am feeling more and more that way all the time! I want my house spotless before this baby comes!

Um...YA! My mom had a cross-stitched poem framed in her room above the rocking chair:

"Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'till tomorrow,
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow.
So quite down cobwebs, and dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep."

I need to get one. But mine will say "clutter" and "germs." Your's too I think :) he he

Much love,

I'm so bad that I have to straighten the room before I leave. Seriously. Whatever room I'm in, I can't turn my back on a mess. So I pick up whatever L has thrown on the floor and straighten the pillows and I even straighten the chairs at the table so they are all perfectly perpendicular to each other.

I need to be medicated, I think! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who suffers from this!
